:: submission Instruction ::
Registration at the journal website jhst.bums.ac.ir is required to submit and track paper. After registration, the online registration system emails a username and password to the corresponding author through which he/she can log into the Online Submission at the journal website to submit manuscript. The online submitting system has some instructions and steps that direct you to upload different parts of your manuscript at the website.
Manuscript Preparation
The submitted manuscript of the journal should be original work; and must be accompained by a cover letter to the Editor-in-cheif, including title and authors' name and declaring that it has not been published or submitted else where. not contain previously published material or material under consideration for publication elsewhere. Assurance should be given that the manuscript is not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication. The plagiarism of the articles will be check. It must be noted that Similarity of Manuscripts will be checked. Manuscripts with strong plagiarism surely rejected.
The main submission file must be prepared in Microsoft Office Word 2007(.doc) format. If the references of manuscript have been made using Endnote/Reference manager software or similar programs, please remove the endnote/reference manager links from the manuscript file.
Manuscripts should be typed, double-spaced, in 12 point Times New Roman font on ISO A4, with at least margins of 25 mm. Oxford English spelling and style should be applied. SI units of measurement must be used in the preparation of manuscripts.
The pages should be numbered sequentially. Please include line numbers in the submitted file. The manuscript contains the following sections:
1- Title page
The title page should include:
  • The complete title of the manuscript (Avoid using abbreviations and symbols in the title).
  • Authors First & Last Name, with their affiliations (i.e., the department and institution to which they are attached, city and country; where the actual work was done).
  • If an author has moved since the work described in the article was done, or was visiting at the time, a “Present address” (or “Permanent address”) may be indicated as a footnote to that authors name. The address at which the author actually did the work must be retained as the main affiliation address. Superscript alphabetical letter are used for such footnotes.
  • It is important to clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. contact details of corresponding author should be stated: Email address (preferably academic email address), full postal address, and phone number (including Country Code+ Area Code+ Phone Number) for emergency calls. Contact details must be kept up to date by the corresponding author.
2- Abstract and Keywords page
All manuscript must contain an abstract. The abstract may not contain more than 250 words for original or review articles. It should be formatted as the Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion sections. Abstract should explain the purposes or motivation for the study, the main results/observations and conclusions. It should not include any references or abbreviations.
4-8 keywords by using MeSH list  must be included. The keywords will be published with the paper and used for indexing purpose.
3- Main text
The main text of different article should be written according to the type of article as below:
  1. Original Articles
These papers are fully documented, interpreted accounts of significant findings of original research. The maximum acceptable length of a Research Paper is 4000 words (less 350 words for each normal-sized figure or table you include). The articles should be formatted as the Introduction, Materials and methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements and References sections. Tables (including table title and footnotes), Figures and Figure legends should be included in separate pages after References.
1) Introduction: Draws attention to the purpose and rationale of the study and a brief review of the relevant literature. Findings and results should not be referred to here.
2) Methods: Contains a clear description of the experimental design, sampling procedures, sufficient details of the methods, instruments, analytic processes, the version of software, and statistical analyses which are performed. If the method has been applied somewhere before, the exact reference should be cited; otherwise, detailed description must be provided.
3) Results: Must be written in the text format. Tables, figures and illustrations must be referenced sequentially in the same order of the text. Repetition of table contents should be avoided. A simple reference such as: "Table 1" will work. Table footnotes should be typed at the top of the tables while legends to figures should be indicated below of them. Tables or figures should not exceed 7 in number.
4) Discussion: Includes data analysis, the comparison of the findings with those of other relevant surveys, and the limitations of the study scope. Any hypothesis put forward in the main text must be either accepted or rejected here. Implications for future developments are also proposed in this section.
5) Conclusion: Involves clear and precise deductions from the results which should not go further beyond the scope of the study.
  1. Review Articles
These are critical and comprehensive reviews that provide new insights or interpretation of a subject through systematic evaluation of available evidence. Review Papers may be longer than Research Papers, and subject to the Editor's agreement.
A review article explains a main field of research, evaluates recent studies in that field and signifies its debates, progress and future implications. The main text of the articles may be sectioned as the Introduction, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Financial Support and References sections. However, structural formation of a review article may not restrict to the sections.  Tables (including table title and footnotes), Figures and Figure legends should be included in separate pages after references.
  1. Short Communications:
These are fully documented, interpreted accounts of significant findings of original research, and should not exceed 2,500 words including figures, tables and references. references are not more than 15 in number.

     d. Systematic Review Articles: A systematic review article follows the same structure as that of an original research article. It typically includes a title, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and reference.

     e. Case Reports: They must have an abstract with 100 or fewer words, case report, discussion, acknowledgements, and references. The main text should not go beyond 2000 words in length, references not exceeding 10 in number, and figures (tables, graphs and charts: each 2 at the most) totally not exceeding 3 in numbers.

     f. Letters to Editor: Normally include no abstract, tables, or figures. References are not more than 10 in number and the main text does not include more than1000 words.

If necessary, gratitude must be expressed towards all people or institutions which have made any financial or technical contributions to data generation and collection.
Authors' Contribution
Authors should include a statement to specify the contribution of every author in the preparation of the manuscript.

 Financial Support
The sources of financial support must be defined in the manuscript after Acknowledgements section.

Conflict of interest
Authors must indicate any potential conflicts of interest before the reviewing process. If there is no conflict of interest, authors should declare that none exist. The conflict of interest declaration must be included in the manuscript after the “Acknowledgements” and “Financial Support” sections.
References should be numbered upon their order of citation in the text, with the number in parenthesis before the final period. All citations should be typed in numerical order at the end of the manuscript, which, in turn, is based on the Vancouver style developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors in 1978. Maximum 30 percent of references can be refered from persian issues. Persian references must be translated to English and marked as [In Persian] at the end. Abbreviate names of journals should be italicized.
Some examples:
1. Negotiation research spans many disciplines (4).
2. This result was later contradicted by Becker and Seligman (5).
3. This effect has been widely studied (1-3, 7).
Reference list
The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text. Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list.
The entries in the list should be numbered consecutively.

Always use the standard abbreviation of a journal’s name according to the ISSN List of Title Word Abbreviations.
All tables must be prepared in Microsoft Office Word table format in the main submission file (after references of main text in separate pages) and should not be prepared as graphics or images.  All figures, pictures, graphics, diagrams or images should also be included in separate pages in the main submission file after references.
Tables should be prepared on separate pages after the references section, typed with double spacing, and numbered in the order cited in the text. The title of table should clearly describe its contents without reference to the text. Tables should also have an explanatory footnote below. Tables may not duplicate text, but rather present supplement information. Use only horizontal layout.
Figures, diagrams, images and Figure legends
Figure/diagram/image should also be provided on separate pages after the references section. Their legends should be numbered in the order cited in the text. Clarify all symbols and abbreviations used in the figure/diagram/image.
Processing charge
The journal has no submission fee and article processing charges.
